Pregnancy & Postpartum

You want to enjoy this precious time, but your mood can steal your joy.

You are not alone.

Bringing a baby into the world is a vulnerable time and a hormonal wild ride. The combination of hormone adjustment and increased stress makes pregnancy and the transition to parenthood a very fragile time. It can feel even more vulnerable if you’re struggling with your emotions or feeling really anxious. You want to enjoy this precious time, but your mood can steal your joy. You’re in the right place to get support. A therapist can listen and guide you through complex emotions.

How can a therapist help?

Postpartum Depression (PPD) and Postpartum Anxiety (PPA) are common. According to the Centers for Disease Control, 11% to 20% of women who give birth each year have postpartum depression symptoms. If you settled on an average of 15% of four million live births in the US annually, this would mean approximately 600,000 women get PPD each year in the United States alone.

Feeling emotional during your pregnancy or postpartum time? Leaning on your friends and family during this time is important, but you may also benefit you to see a licensed therapist to process your experience. You may find a safe neutral environment supportive when you are considering your birth and postpartum plans.
